I had no idea that the IRS launched a mobile app in 2011, but apparently they launched a new and "better" one. It's called IRS2Go and may provide a convenient way to log in to your account with the IRS to do and see certain things regarding your taxes.

By the way, if you haven't created an account with the IRS, I suggest you consider doing so. Here's the link to do so, pops up right on the home screen. https://www.irs.gov/

Your IRS account may be especially helpful to check if you have any notices that you may not have received in the mail (maybe you moved or it got lost in the mail). It's actually quite interesting to see what's on there regarding your taxes. Here's a quick list of what you can do with the app:

  • Check refund status

  • view any balance due info

  • make payments

  • view notices and letters

  • access tax records and transcripts

  • access your IP PIN, if applicable

The app is available in the Apple app store and Google Play. Note that The IRS website maybe more comprehensive still, but the app will continue to grow and expand its functions.
